What Is Lettertype?

Lettertype is a free Unicode font generator that converts ordinary text into stylized Unicode characters — bold cursive, gothic, italic, bubble letters, vaporwave, small caps, and more.

Every character you generate is a real Unicode symbol, not an image or a custom font file. That means your styled text works everywhere — Instagram bios, Discord usernames, TikTok captions, Twitter posts, WhatsApp messages — no app, no browser extension, no font installation required.

Lettertype has no accounts, no watermarks, no paid tiers. Type, copy, paste. That's it.

Who Runs Lettertype

Lettertype is an independent project run by a small team focused on typography and Unicode text tools. The site is built, written, and maintained by people who use these tools themselves — for social media, personal projects, and creative work.

Content on Lettertype — guides, blog posts, font descriptions — is researched and written by the team. We don't use AI-generated placeholder content or outsource writing to content mills. When we write that bubble letters work on Roblox display names but not always on base usernames, it's because we tested it.

Why We Built It

Most people don't know that Unicode contains thousands of characters beyond the standard Latin alphabet — mathematical symbols, enclosed letters, script letterforms, and decorative glyphs that look like styled fonts but are actually plain text.

Copy a bold cursive "A" from Lettertype — 𝓐 — and paste it into an Instagram bio. It works because Instagram reads it as a standard Unicode character, not a font file. Same with Discord, TikTok, Twitter, and virtually every other platform.

The tools that existed before Lettertype were slow, ad-cluttered, or limited to a handful of styles. We wanted something fast, clean, and complete — with every Unicode style in one place.

How It Works

Type or paste text into any generator. Lettertype maps each character to its Unicode equivalent in the style you select:

  • The letter A → 𝓐 in bold cursive
  • The letter A → 𝔄 in gothic (Fraktur)
  • The letter A → 🅐 in bubble filled
  • The letter A → Ａ in fullwidth / vaporwave

Because these are standard Unicode characters, they:

  • Copy and paste perfectly across all platforms
  • Display correctly on any modern device
  • Require no fonts, plugins, or accounts
  • Work in bios, usernames, captions, and direct messages

The generator updates in real time — no submit button, no page reload.
